Blog Prompts (#1-4)

Blog Prompts (#1-4): Due Monday November 18th

#1
“I just think it's important to be direct and honest with people about why you're photographing them and what you're doing. After all, you are taking some of their soul.” ~Mary Ellen Mark

There is a tale that says if you get your picture taken the camera takes your soul. Even thought that is not fully true it does capture the real truth. Eyes don't lie, and that's what a picture shows you.

#2 “My portraits are more about me than they are about the people I photograph.” ~Richard Avedon.

Portraits are controlled by photographer. They tell them how to move their head and what face to make. The one behind the camera is the one who makes the photo so it will tell more about the photographer than the person in the portrait.

#3 “You don't take a photograph, you make it.” ~Ansel Adams

The Photographer has complete control over the photo. They say when and where the picture is going to be taken and what happens after the photo is taken. The photograph is like a painter who can take an image and change the mood of it with in seconds.

#4 “All photographs are there to remind us of what we forget. In this - as in other ways - they are the opposite of paintings. Paintings record what the painter remembers. Because each one of us forgets different things, a photo more than a painting may change its meaning according to who is looking at it.” ~John Berger

Photos tell the truth. They are taken right away in  that very second. Were as a painting is done just on memories. And Memories can change.
